our story
Mulberry and Melda welcome you to MULBERRY’S!
MULBERRY’S is located in the beautiful grounds of The Old Rectory in Walkern, Hertfordshire. Our name is inspired by two of our favourite residents - the mulberry tree in the back garden and Mulberry the golden retriever!
The Old Rectory was built around 1632 for Rev John Gorsuch and is steeped in fascinating Walkern history. Perhaps most notable is its involvement in the story of Jane Wenham, one of the last people to be condemned for witchcraft in England. Wenham was accused of bewitching Ann Thorne, a servant at The Rectory.

In recent years The Old Rectory has been home to The Magic of Christmas, one of the largest Christmas shops in the south of England. From October-December we provide a wide range of beautiful decorations and gifts, wreaths, real and artificial trees, lights and more. Mulberry’s started life as the shop's Nordic Tearoom, but with our wonderful new garden room we’re ready to take on the summer months too!
Melda and Mulberry hope to see you soon!
